Let’s Talk About Ear Wax!
Did you know that ear wax isn’t “dirty” at all? It’s actually your body’s natural protection system.
Ear wax:
Keeps your ear canal moisturised
Protects against dust, bacteria, and fungi
The scent even repels insect!
That’s why we always say: “Nothing smaller than your elbow should go in your ear!”
Unfortunately, when we use cotton buds or insert objects into our ears, we can push wax deeper, damage delicate skin, or even harm the eardrum.
When I worked in the hospital, I saw just how dangerous this can get. Some patients had damaged ear canals, causing the lining to bleed and mould started to grow. And in one extreme case, a surgeon even had to remove a spider from a patient’s ear!
The good news? Most ear issues can be easily prevented. Safe wax removal (like microsuction) is quick, gentle, and protects your ear health.
If you’ve been experiencing blocked ears, muffled hearing, or discomfort, don’t reach for the cotton bud—reach out to a professional instead. Professional Ear nurses, audiologist who have trained professionally in wax removal (like Eastern Hearing), ENT specialists are all qualified to do so.

Your ears will thank you!
