Service Description

Our comprehensive hearing assessment and 7 day trial demo appointment includes: We begin with otoscopy, where we visually examine your ear canal and eardrum to identify any blockages, infections, or abnormalities. Next, we perform tympanometry to evaluate the health of your middle ear. This test helps detect issues such as middle ear infections or a perforated eardrum. We then conduct pure tone audiometry, which measures your hearing sensitivity. If hearing loss is present, this test helps determine whether it's conductive, sensorineural, or mixed in nature. Following that, we carry out speech audiometry to assess how clearly you understand spoken words at different volume levels, providing insight into your speech comprehension ability. We also offer Auditory Contrast Threshold (ACT) testing—a rare and advanced tool in New Zealand. Unlike traditional tone or speech tests, ACT uses modulated noise signals to assess how much contrast your brain needs to distinguish between different sounds. This gives us a strong prediction of how well you’ll be able to understand speech in noisy environments. For clients who may benefit from hearing aids, we offer an in-clinic demonstration. If you're happy with the results and feel comfortable, you’re welcome to take home a pair of demo hearing aids to try free for 7 days. This gives you the opportunity to experience how they perform in real-life situations—at home, work, or out and about—so you can make a confident and informed decision. Finally, we’ll go through all your results with you in clear, simple terms—ensuring you fully understand your hearing profile, your options, and the next steps if a hearing solution is recommended.
